The IT department of the City of Wädenswil (population approximately 25,000) provides authorities and employees with a wide range of digital services. To ensure these services are reliably secured, the internal IT department sought a solution that combines security, digital sovereignty, and user-friendliness.

Cybersecurity with a Swiss Platform for Centralized Authentication

The choice fell on the Airlock Secure Access Hub: a Swiss platform featuring centralized authentication and modern security policies. The project was supported by Swiss Post Cybersecurity, an experienced Airlock partner.

From Secure Webmail to Comprehensive Access Platform

The City of Wädenswil wanted to make central applications — such as the meeting or webmail apps — securely accessible from outside the network. From the very beginning, It was clear that the solution would need to be scalable in the future and support two-factor authentication and different user groups. At the same time, the aim was to defend against cyberattacks such as DDoS or SQL injection, minimize geographic risks, and keep operations under Swiss control and within the city’s data sovereignty.

Over the course of the project, additional applications were to be integrated step by step, always following the same principle:

• centralized access
• clear authorisations
• consistent security.
